I've lived in Dublin city centre and suburbs all my life, and the history of Dublin and it's stories are endlessly surprising, even to someone who lives here. Since I've started as a tour guide I've found it to be a lot of fun, and very rewarding to see visitors really engage with the real Dublin! These are the streets of James Joyce, Oscar Wilde, Sinead O'Connor, Arthur Guinness (as well as Henry V111 and a couple of Cromwells), . . I take little detours when asked (which is a LOT), and I like to make sure that my clients who book onto my tours have the best of times! As a professional musician and producer I've also got some unusual insights into some of the secrets of this world, with the ocassional behind the scenes tale or two. I also have a very special relationship with Dublin's Ha'Penny Bridge, as I'm personally responsible for overseeing the conversion of some of the Bridge's original wooden decking by Fender Guitars California into beautiful Stratocasters and Telecasters! Dublin is an old city, but it's not a museum, it's also a brand new city - this is the same throughout all of Ireland - and I enjoy showing visitors how these worlds live side by side, so you can have fun while being amazed at the same time!

I love to roam the many historical streets, visiting new exhibitions, or relaxing in the many beautiful parks of this gorgeous city. My interest is in Secret History. So let us go to the largest urban park in Europe to see wild Deer, the largest private collection of Oriental art, and the first public library in Ireland, the famous Dublin cathedrals and rich Georgian architecture.

I’m Owen Mullan, your guide with Newgrange Day Tours. I want to welcome you to experience Ireland in a way that’s close to my heart. I’ve been a qualified national tour-guide for many years, with a deep love for Irish history, culture and landscape. I founded Newgrange Day Tours because I believe a journey is more than landmarks — it’s stories, memories, and a personal connection. I enjoy meeting new people, sharing tales of ancient Neolithic monuments, medieval castles and Celtic legends — and seeing the wonder in their eyes when they learn, laugh, and connect with the land. What makes my tours special is that they are private and tailored to you: your interests, your pace, your curiosity. Want to explore the passage tomb of Newgrange and the ancient tombs at Knowth? Or maybe prefer a more relaxed stroll through historic abbeys or medieval castles? I adapt the day so you get the experience you’ll treasure most. With a comfortable, luxury car and my stories bringing history to life, I aim to make every tour unforgettable. So come along — whether you’re visiting for the history, the mythology, or simply the beauty of Ireland — I’ll make sure your time here becomes a cherished memory.

Ciaran Hayden

Based in Wicklow
Dublin, Wicklow, Wexford, Meath

Ciarán Hayden is a fully qualified national tour guide based in Dublin and Wicklow, with a passion for bringing Ireland’s rich past and vibrant culture to life. A graduate of the Bord Fáilte National Tour Guide programme at the Portobello Institute in Dublin, Ciarán has spent the past three years guiding visitors through the stories, streets, and flavours that define the region. Specialising in modern Irish history and the elegance of Georgian Dublin, Ciarán blends deep historical knowledge with a natural gift for storytelling. His tours explore everything from cultural landmarks and hidden corners to the best of local food and traditional pubs, offering guests an authentic and immersive experience. He also brings a particular depth of insight into Huguenot Ireland, tracing the influence of refugee communities such as the La Touche family, whose Delgany branch played a significant role in the social and economic development of Wicklow. By weaving these narratives into the broader story of Ireland, Ciarán highlights the lasting legacy of migration, enterprise, and identity. His storytelling further extends to Ireland’s long and complex struggle for independence, from the uprising of 1798 through the revolutionary period of the early 20th century and into the present day. With a balanced and engaging approach, he helps visitors understand the people, events, and ideas that shaped the nation. Before becoming a guide, Ciarán served for 28 years as a firefighter — a career that shaped his calm presence, sharp insight, and ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Today, he brings that same dedication and energy to every tour, ensuring each group leaves with a deeper understanding of Ireland and a few great stories to tell.

I am a qualified tour guide and have been guiding and driver guiding for the past twelve years. I am a member of ATGI (Approved Tourist Guides of Ireland) and I hold a Small Public Service Vehicle licence which means that I am licensed to carry people for hire or reward and am fully insured for this. In Ireland you cannot transport people for hire or reward without this licence so always look for the green disc on the front and rear windscreens. I drive an E class Mercedes limo which can take up to four passengers - two seats in the front and three in the back. My tours cover Dublin and the adjoining county of Wicklow, and can be walking tours or driving tours or a combination of both. Hiking, gardens, farming and stately homes are a speciality as are tours for those seeking to visit their ancestral homeland. I grew up on a farm in the Wicklow Uplands, and worked in the property business, and then in the political world, before becoming a tour guide. I am knowledgeable, energetic, intuitive, and easy going and I really enjoy meeting people. A tour with me can cover many topics, and I am a great believer in being flexible (within reason!) and in quality rather than quantity when it comes to an itinerary. I’m a multilingual tour guide and professional photographer originally from the Netherlands, living in Ireland since 1997. I’m passionate about Irish culture, history, and folklore, and I love sharing the magic of Ireland through all 6 senses. I speak English, Dutch and French, with basic German and Russian. I studied French, Dutch and Russian translation in Brussels in the 90s, where I met an Irishman who brought me to Ireland—where my own Irish story began. After several years in the corporate world, I followed my passion and became a tour guide to bring more meaning and magic into my work. Today, I offer immersive Irish experiences where you can see castles and ancient churches, smell turf fires, taste traditional soda bread, feel the sea mist, hear live trad music, and discover Irish myths and ghost stories. Based in Bray, Co. Wicklow, I’m ideally placed to explore the Garden of Ireland, including Glendalough, mountains, waterfalls, and stunning coastal scenery. I also offer professional photography to capture your journey and create lasting memories.

Greetings! I moved to Ireland back in 2013. After living here for 13 years, I've come to love this country as my own (Venezuela) and really enjoy sharing my knowledge on the Irish history and culture. Nowadays, I live in Cobh and definitely came here to stay. Besides having stunning scenery worthy of countless social-media posts, Cobh is one of the most important and interesting local attractions I love to show my guests: its historic links to the Titanic and Lusitania make it a must-see in Cork and Ireland. Painting, writing, travelling and making music are some of the things I like to do during my free time. I also enjoy translating books and documents on Irish history because this is a great way to gain more knowledge. Upon moving to Ireland, I've specialised in tourism for large and small groups. In 2021, I became a certified national tourist guide. I can fluently speak three languages: English, Spanish and French, but I've had the opportunity of guiding people from all over the world, as well as other locals. It is great to see and compare the different perspectives of tourists and guests from far-away countries. What I enjoy the most is that I always end up learning something new.
