Stephen Payne
Stephen Payne began his story with passenger travel & tourism back in 2003 and since then has gained almost unrivalled knowledge on showing the very best Ireland has to offer, from castles and country estates, to small remote beaches in Connemara and Kerry. Having been organising bespoke tours for just over 20 years, Stephen leaves no stone unturned when it comes to accommodation, food and lunches, points of interest stops, as well as small details such as tour diaries and giving a truly immersive Irish experience to everyone who travels on board. Having a Fáilte Ireland Irish National Driver Guide qualification means you're not just getting a driver, you're getting a knowledgeable, passionate storyteller who can bring Ireland's history, culture, music, landscapes and people to life as you travel around the country. From the ancient passage tombs of the Boyne Valley to the spectacular views along the Wild Atlantic Way, the breathtaking gardens at Powerscourt to the intricacies of the Book of Kells, the silence of the Famine Memorial to the wonderful Irish music in Tralee — Stephen has guided groups from all across the world and knows the nooks and crannies to make each and every journey one to remember forever.

Terry Lambert
Terry Lambert & Hilltoptreks — What Makes Us Special For over two decades, Terry Lambert has been leading people into the heart of Ireland’s natural beauty, sharing the landscapes, stories, and secrets that make this island such an unforgettable place to explore. As the founder of Hilltoptreks, Terry brings a lifetime of experience in the outdoors, a deep love of Irish culture, and a genuine passion for showing guests the Ireland he knows best—authentic, welcoming, and full of quiet magic. With Terry, it’s never just a tour; it’s a personal journey shaped by warmth, humour, and a sense of adventure. Hilltoptreks’ day tours and walking holidays stand out because they go beyond the usual tourist path. Whether it’s exploring Wicklow’s forested trails, stepping back thousands of years at Newgrange, or wandering through the valleys and coastlines of Ireland’s west, every experience is crafted with care. Our routes are handpicked, our pace is relaxed, and our guides—each one hand-chosen by Terry—bring their own local knowledge, personality, and storytelling charm. Guests don’t just see Ireland; they feel it. What truly sets Hilltoptreks apart is our connection with people. Terry has always believed that the best experiences come from small groups, personal attention, and the freedom to slow down and enjoy the journey. This approach has shaped everything we do: the friendly atmosphere, the flexibility of our itineraries, the choice between guided and self-guided adventures, and the genuine relationships we build with our guests. Many return year after year—not just for the scenery, but for the sense of belonging they find with us. From easy day tours to multi-day walking holidays in Ireland and beyond, Hilltoptreks offers experiences that are thoughtful, uplifting, and rooted in a true love of the outdoors. Under Terry’s guidance, we’ve always kept one simple goal at the heart of our work: to help people discover places that inspire them, challenge them, and stay with them long after the journey ends.

Dairine Nuttall
I am a qualified tour guide and have been guiding and driver guiding for the past twelve years. I am a member of ATGI (Approved Tourist Guides of Ireland) and I hold a Small Public Service Vehicle licence which means that I am licensed to carry people for hire or reward and am fully insured for this. In Ireland you cannot transport people for hire or reward without this licence so always look for the green disc on the front and rear windscreens. I drive an E class Mercedes limo which can take up to four passengers - two seats in the front and three in the back. My tours cover Dublin and the adjoining county of Wicklow, and can be walking tours or driving tours or a combination of both. Hiking, gardens, farming and stately homes are a speciality as are tours for those seeking to visit their ancestral homeland. I grew up on a farm in the Wicklow Uplands, and worked in the property business, and then in the political world, before becoming a tour guide. I am knowledgeable, energetic, intuitive, and easy going and I really enjoy meeting people. A tour with me can cover many topics, and I am a great believer in being flexible (within reason!) and in quality rather than quantity when it comes to an itinerary. Contact me to make a bespoke itinerary that suits YOU!

Karin Janssen
I’m a multilingual tour guide and professional photographer originally from the Netherlands, living in Ireland since 1997. I’m passionate about Irish culture, history, and folklore, and I love sharing the magic of Ireland through all 6 senses. I speak English, Dutch and French, with basic German and Russian. I studied French, Dutch and Russian translation in Brussels in the 90s, where I met an Irishman who brought me to Ireland—where my own Irish story began. After several years in the corporate world, I followed my passion and became a tour guide to bring more meaning and magic into my work. Today, I offer immersive Irish experiences where you can see castles and ancient churches, smell turf fires, taste traditional soda bread, feel the sea mist, hear live trad music, and discover Irish myths and ghost stories. Based in Bray, Co. Wicklow, I’m ideally placed to explore the Garden of Ireland, including Glendalough, mountains, waterfalls, and stunning coastal scenery. I also offer professional photography to capture your journey and create lasting memories.
