I was born and raised in County Kilkenny, and I run a small independent walking tour company offering story-driven tours of the city. My goal is to give visitors a clear and engaging introduction to Kilkenny, helping you understand how the city developed from a Norman stronghold into the modern Irish city you see today. I lead every tour myself and keep groups small so the experience remains relaxed, personal, and interactive. As we walk through the streets of Kilkenny, I connect the buildings and landmarks you see with the people, events, and changes that shaped the city over more than 800 years. One of the unique aspects of my tours is that they can be delivered entirely in English, French, or German, allowing international visitors to explore Kilkenny’s history in their own language. I hold a Certificate in National Tour Guiding, a BA (Honours) in Language Studies, and a Diploma in International Hotel Management. Before becoming a tour guide, I spent over 20 years working in hospitality, including time in hotels in Ireland, the UK, Switzerland, and France. I am a qualified tour guide and have been guiding and driver guiding for the past twelve years. I am a member of ATGI (Approved Tourist Guides of Ireland) and I hold a Small Public Service Vehicle licence which means that I am licensed to carry people for hire or reward and am fully insured for this. In Ireland you cannot transport people for hire or reward without this licence so always look for the green disc on the front and rear windscreens. I drive an E class Mercedes limo which can take up to four passengers - two seats in the front and three in the back. My tours cover Dublin and the adjoining county of Wicklow, and can be walking tours or driving tours or a combination of both. Hiking, gardens, farming and stately homes are a speciality as are tours for those seeking to visit their ancestral homeland. I grew up on a farm in the Wicklow Uplands, and worked in the property business, and then in the political world, before becoming a tour guide. I am knowledgeable, energetic, intuitive, and easy going and I really enjoy meeting people. A tour with me can cover many topics, and I am a great believer in being flexible (within reason!) and in quality rather than quantity when it comes to an itinerary. These are not extreme adventure tours. They are about getting outdoors, enjoying the scenery, hearing local stories, and getting the inside track on one of the most beautiful parts of Ireland. As a lifelong weather enthusiast, daily sea swimmer, and local guide, I shape each outing around the people taking part, the weather, the tide, and the conditions on the day. Tours can be gentle, scenic, and easygoing, or a little more active if that suits you. The areas covered include Ventry, Dingle, nearby coastal routes, quiet backroads, beaches, safe swim spots, local viewpoints, and places visitors can easily miss. Most outings are 2 to 4 hours, making them ideal for solo travellers, older visitors, couples, and small groups who want a relaxed local experience without committing to a full day. A tour might be a gentle coastal walk, help finding a safe place to swim, a swim followed by a sauna, a relaxed local bike route, or time for coffee and a chat. No special experience is needed.
